This year's BioDCASE Workshop will be held online on the 23rd of October.
The program will include invited speakers on the topic of bioacoustics as well as poster sessions of technical reports. The BioDCASE workshop will be hosted the week before the DCASE workshop on the 28-29th of October in Boston.
Participants can also submit a scientific paper to DCASE. In this case, the paper must respect the structure of a scientific publication and be prepared according to the provided DCASE paper instructions and template. You can find more details here.

Cristian Pérez-Granados
From predictions to conservation: building trust in AI for biodiversity conservation
Cristian Pérez-Granados is Head of the "New Tools for Biodiversity Monitoring" Research Group at the Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia (CTFC). He has extensive experience in passive acoustic monitoring, including the analyses of large-scale acoustic datasets across a wide range of taxa, and in evaluating the performance of AI-based algorithms. He is also the coordinator of the World Annotated Bird Acoustic Dataset.
Sara Beery
Targeting Human Verification for Robust Deployment of AI in Ecology
Dr. Sara Beery is the Homer A. Burnell Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. She received her PhD in Computing and Mathematical Sciences at Caltech, where she was advised by Pietro Perona. Her research focuses on building computer vision methods that enable global-scale environmental and biodiversity monitoring across data modalities, and her work has been recognized with a Schmidt Sciences AI2050 Early Career Fellowship, an NSF CAREER Award, and the Amori Doctoral Prize. She partners with industry, nongovernmental organizations, and government agencies to deploy her methods in the wild worldwide and works to increase access to AI skills through interdisciplinary capacity building and education. Dr. Beery founded the AI for Conservation slack community, founded and directs the Workshop on Computer Vision Methods for Ecology, and co-leads the Global Center on AI and Biodiversity Change.

Poster sessions
Posters should be single-page landscape PDFs, suitable for showing on a person's screen in fullscreen mode. Posters will be presented in online breakouts: plan to give a brief verbal intro to the work (1 minute) and then a discussion with attendees.
We request posters to be presented twice: once in session 1 and once in session 2. If you cannot then please ensure you inform us in which session you will present.
