Workshop Recap
In October 2025 we held the first BioDCASE workshop in person in Barcelona, as a satellite event of the 2025 DCASE workshop. There was a lot of lively discussion of both the current challenges in bioacoustics and their solutions.
The instructions and information that follow refer to the 2025 edition of the workshop.
Details
The workshop will be held at the Campus del Poblenou of Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The BioDCASE workshop will be hosted the day before the DCASE workshop on the 30-31st of October at the same venue.
The program will include an invited speakers on the topic of bioacoustics as well as oral and poster presentations (including spotlight presentation) of technical reports. See poster and spotlight talk instructions below. Coffee and refreshments will be provided during the breaks. Lunch is not included, but you will have time to enjoy one of the nearby cafés, we will share some suggestions.
See full workshop schedule here.

Poster Instructions
Posters should be printed in A0 size with portrait orientation (width x height: 841mm × 1189mm). There is neither a template nor any special requirements regarding the content beyond what is usually expected from a scientific poster.
For local and international travelers, printing can be arranged at a copy shop near the venue: CopiServei.
Price: €24.68 per poster (printed on 180g matte A0 paper). The copy shop offers a special discounted price for both BioDCASE and DCASE, which can be accessed using the code DCASE2025.
Delivery: Posters should be sent at least 48 hours in advance to guarantee on-time delivery.
Participants can send their order to copiservei@copiservei.com, attaching the poster as a PDF file at the correct size. The file should be named with the participant’s name. Payment can be made by card when picking up the poster and communication in English is available if needed.
Spotlights presentation
Each paper is allocated a 4-minute spotlight talk. This is an opportunity to attract other participants to your poster.
Tips: The schedule of the spotlights sessions will be tight so please make sure you don't exceed this time limit by practicing it at least once under realistic conditions and try not to give too many details. Have one title slide plus three key slides: research question, method, and main outcome.
In order to ensure a smooth transition between the presentations, please send your slides (preferably in pdf) to ester.vidana@salle.url.edu at least 24 hours before your session. We will copy them to the presenter laptop for you.
